Sell in ChatGPT

ChatGPT shows products from merchants OpenAI has approved. Shoppers find your products in ChatGPT and buy on your site. CommerceForAI builds your product feed in OpenAI's format and tells you exactly what's left before you apply. OpenAI reviews applications from a waitlist; shopping is US-only for now.

1. Get ready

The store's Sell in ChatGPT section (or the API) checks four things:

  • A live store taking payments (ChatGPT shoppers buy for real)
  • Products for sale, with a JPEG or PNG image each
  • Your website and product page links, so ChatGPT can send shoppers to each product
  • A feed that passes OpenAI's rules
await commerce.store.configureStorefront({
  product_url_template: "https://acme.com/products/{handle}", // {handle} = product metadata.handle, or {id}
  brand: "Acme",
  seller_url: "https://acme.com",
  privacy_policy_url: "https://acme.com/privacy",
  terms_url: "https://acme.com/terms",
  return_policy_url: "https://acme.com/returns",
  return_window_days: 30,
});

const { data } = await commerce.store.checkFeed();
data.ready; // true when OpenAI would accept every item
data.errors;  // [{ item_id, field: "image_url", message: "Missing image_url." }]

The feed is at /feeds/<store>/acp.json, and in OpenAI's upload format at /feeds/<store>/openai.jsonl.gz.

2. Apply

Apply at chatgpt.com/merchants. The dashboard (or commerce.store.chatgpt()) gives you the answers: company, country, website, product category, feed size, and whether you can tick “our product feed meets OpenAI's specifications”. You add your own name, title, LinkedIn and work email, and submit it yourself.

3. Track it

await commerce.store.updateChatgpt({ status: "applied" }); // later: "approved" or "not_approved"

Once approved, OpenAI sends SFTP details for uploading the feed. Connect them and the feed uploads daily. Agents see the status in setup_status and the chatgpt_channel MCP tool.
